SAWYER SAUNDERS

DIRTPRO ATHLETE

Sawyer Saunders is a promising young motocross racer from Sechelt, British Columbia. At just 8 years old, he has already made significant strides in the sport, showcasing talent and determination beyond his years.

Early Life and Introduction to Racing

Sawyer began riding dirt bikes at the age of three. Although he expressed interest in racing at four, his parents felt he was too young. Undeterred, he entered his first race at six in Pemberton, British Columbia. He chose the number 17 for his bike after meeting a fellow young rider with that number, which left a lasting impression on him.

Competitive Achievements

  • 2023 Season: Sawyer had a remarkable year, starting with a championship win at the IronHorse Arenacross in Alberta. He continued his success in the Western Canadian outdoor series, the Future West Outdoor series, which spans multiple tracks across British Columbia.

  • 2024 AMO Orion Arenacross Championship: Competing in Chilliwack, BC, Sawyer dominated the 50cc (7–8) and 50 GP classes, securing first place in both with perfect scores. He also achieved a commendable fifth place in the 65cc (7–9) class.

  • 2025 KTM Junior Supercross (KJSC) at San Diego: In a standout performance, Sawyer won the KJSC main event with an impressive eight-second lead and recorded the fastest lap time, two seconds quicker than his competitors.

Personal Interests and Role Models

Sawyer’s favorite subject in school is Physical Education, reflecting his active lifestyle. He looks up to professional riders Eli Tomac and Hayden Deegan for their speed and entertaining racing styles. Among Canadian pros, he admires Dylan Wright, Blake Davies, and Julien Benek. However, his ultimate heroes are his parents, who have supported his racing journey from the beginning.
